Hi,
The big question is, will giving the banks billions of dollars help save the financial system??????
No It will not.
The rot is to deep for this to change the banking system.
As I have said many times in this blog to much money has been printed and there must be a correction to bring us back to health. This correction will involve a recession but it can be a controlled one. Market forces must be able to take control.
Why has nobody asked the question? Is there a better way of financing the capitalist system rather than creating banks. We should be looking at this question before we rush into spending billions of dollars.
The world is witnessing a massive collapse, the banks have destroyed most of our economic growth for the next 10 years we should be thinking of the future frame work that we need for our financial system.
Still I bet the Government Politicians will be hoping its a good enough fix to get them over the elections, then if it blows up in our faces at least they will have 4 good years to draw as much money out of the system for themselves as possible.
My bet for the future is gold will rise in price hitting $1200 oz by the spring 2009.
I have just bought 1 kilo myself for an insurance policy.
Also I have got very angry over the last 6 months watching how central banks have managed to find trillions of dollars in extra funding to buy toxic loans, but when people are starving to death though famine the western Governments cannot find the money or resources to help. We have Politicians around the world going on live television preaching that there Government will do everything needed to fund the financial system. Is finding money to help a bank survive better than spending money for babies and children to live why can't Governments have better morals and think first of being a human being rather than a rich politician.
